This workshop is intended for professionals and pre-professionals who have completed at least one year of training in a reputable contemporary dance or ballet training program. The morning classes focuses on developing better technical and artistic abilities in contemporary, improvisational and partnering dance classes, while the afternoon’s objective is to expand the interpretive capabilities as well as experience a professional creative process with a chosen choreographer.
With time, the dancer develops his own distinct way of working, bringing singularity and his particular colour to the creations he takes part in. Consequently, the contemporary dancer must not only explore new techniques but also new “states of body”. This is why Transformation is a place that offers the opportunity to incorporate new tools, to improve critical sense and refine one’s personal aesthetic choices.
With this in mind, we conceived a format that gives dancers the possibility to create their own personalized schedule that suits both what they are interested in and their availabilities. The quality of our classes relies on a combination of factors like the knowledge and of our teachers, the chemistry that is part of each group and the level of the participating dancers. Nevertheless, the selection made at registration is done by CV instead of audition
Transformation brings together dancers from different horizons (training, city, style) and with different views and interests. Together, these factors make for a very unique experience. Actually, every year many dancers share with us their appreciation with the fluidity of interpersonal relations, the intense concentration of the workshop along with the atmosphere of freedom that is felt in the different studios during Transformation.
The program reflects the dancer’s commentaries, views and interests in the new paths of contemporary creation along with the human and artistic experience of its artistic directors. Our choice of faculty is based on our desire to offer a space of real transformation.
